Pianist, composer, accompanist and teacher, Fumie Kiuchi, has performed in New Zealand, Japan and the United States. She began her classical piano performance studies and solfege lessons at an early age and graduated from the Tokyo Metropolitan Art High School majoring classical piano performance. Continuing her musical studies at the Tokyo College of Music in the Pianist performance Course, Fumie received scholarship and her classical piano performance Bachelor’s degree.
She also competed as a finalist in the Takarazuka Bega Competition in Japan and was highly praised by Henriette Puig-Roget. After her graduation, she studied Classical, American contemporary music and improvisation at the Longy School of Music in Boston and Jazz at The New School in New York. She holds LTCL (classical piano performance) Diploma in Piano Recital (Trinity Guildhall) in distinction.
She has participated in many recordings and concerts as a soloist and accompanist, and has composed and performed for ballet concerts.
